The 2016 Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge is a wrap and all of us here at Werner are stoked we have been able to provide “Insider Coverage.” There were so many winners at this event, and beyond just those on the Podium. So stoked for local SUP shop Big Winds, who’s owner Steve Gates has given so much to the sport and this event.
With insane winds on Sunday was able to show the world how amazing his back yard, the “Gorge,” can be for stand up paddling. Well done to the race coordinators and of course congrats to all the racers, who’s training and efforts should be recognized no matter where they finished. Of course a special congratulations to us to all of the Team Werner athletes. Enjoy the event recap. Video/Production by Dave Fusilli.
Insider Coverage from Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge
Day 1 racing saw Annabel Anderson and Connor Baxter take the win in the “Super Lap,” with Werner Paddles own Tyler Bashor winning the “Grom Race.” On the opposite end of the age scale, Tyler’s Team mate local MacRae Wylde, won the 50 over age group.
Other top finishers from the Team were Josh Riccio, all the way from Hawaii, scoring a top 15 and putting him in position to move up the leaderboard with his combined points from Sunday’s “Double Dowinder.” Lina Augaitis takes 8th while Fiona Wylde ends up 3rd and will certainly threaten to take the overall with her downwind skills on Sunday. Check out the video and be sure to stay tuned for action from Sunday’s finale.
Race Day 2 Recap
