Intermission The day after the Maverick’s contest, San Francisco big wave sup’er Haley Fiske got this note from Pompermayer, one of the world’s leading edge surf photographers:

“Hey Fiske,
It was nice to see you out there! Check this one.
Best,
Fred”

February 20th, 2010: “I actually had no idea I’d even be at Mav’s on this Saturday. I was on the North Shore all the previous week for the world sup tour; even got out and sup’d Waimea and Phantoms. Then I changed my flight to come home early to get Mav’s.
Between the last semi-final and the final at the Mav’s contest there is a 45 minute break. I took advantage of it just as a big swing set came through.
That lip hovering above my head eventually blew me to bits.” –Haley
