Hackney Fitness Festival Hosts Sprint Races on Canals

Then, Saturday afternoon the action will move to the Hackney Marshes for the ProAm Open races on the canals. The APP World Tour has partnered with the annual Hackney Fitness Festival to create a dynamic experience cultivating more participation and spectatorship overall.  Racers will mingle with fitness professionals of every background, cycling, yoga, dance and running. Paddle clinics with April Zilg, Seychelle and Jason Cole of Paddle Barbados will happen all day. Food vendors, live music and action on the central screen will keep the event popping throughout the weekend.

Finally on Sunday, the APP World Tour athletes will line up on the canal at the Hackney Marshes for the Sprint racing featuring 4-man heats. Each race start will feature individual racer’s ‘berths’ to insure a fair start, followed by an explosive sprint across the canal to a set of buoys to be rounded. At this point, the field will split and 2 racers will head East and 2 will head West to a far buoy. Rounding Buoy #2, they will head back towards each other and cross in front of the crowds to complete the course by going back the opposite way. A final run to the final buoy and through the APP arch will determine each heat’s winner.
