Punta Sayulita Update - September 2012

Greetings from Punta Sayulita. How time flies with summer coming to an end and kids returning back to school. Over the summer months the construction progress at Punta Sayulita has been advancing on schedule as the Punta Sayulita Beach Club and custom residences begin to take shape. After many years of thoughtful planning, it is gratifying to see our vision soon become realized. We invite you to contact us to schedule a time to visit Punta Sayulita and see first-hand the progress and the residential ownership opportunities available.

Below is a summary of some of the recent happenings and other upcoming events at Punta Sayulita. Please be sure to visit our blog to get our latest news, events and construction update photographs.

Construction Progress Update
Construction on the Punta Sayulita Beach Club facility continues to advance on all components including new construction starts on the Beach Club Reception Building and the Club’s private boat dock. The dock will provide members’ access to the Club’s two ribbed inflatable sport boats for surf trips to access the various area surf breaks as well as sport fishing, whale watching and other ocean activities. Construction works are also advancing on the two (2) custom de Reus Architects designed Ocean oceanfront residences #37 & #38 as well as construction on our most recent sale, Casa #34.

Construction is almost complete on the foundation for the last remaining oceanfront residence, Casita #39. This residence is ideally located near the Punta Sayulita Beach Club and offers stunning views of the Sayulita Village. With this residence being the last oceanfront residence available in Phase 1, for a limited time only Punta Sayulita is extending our groundbreaking purchase incentive program on Casita #39 and we invite you to contact the Punta Sayulita real estate office to learn about and take advantage of these incentives.

Mexico’s Independence Day- September 16
Sayulita is preparing for the September 16th Independence Day celebrations with colorful decorations around the village. Sayulita photographer Donna Day captured some great shots which you can see by clicking here. Celebrations usually begin on the 15th to ring in the 16th with fireworks, patriotic flags and parades. Sayulita will host its own parade next weekend. It is an annual tradition in Sayulita when local children participate in the colorful parade and dancing in the plaza.

Punta Sayulita Foundation Update
Reef Check Eco-Diver Team

The Punta Sayulita Foundation sponsored Reef Check Eco-Diver team recently completed their third survey of the Marietta Islands earlier this summer under fantastic conditions with visibility up to 35 feet. The team of 7 divers completed two underwater surveys at different spots around the Marieta Islands located offshore of Punta de Mita. The first location was an area previously monitored in December 2011, which is identified as “Amarradero 2”. The majority of indicator fish species observed were Butterfly fish, with several medium size Groupers spotted as well. Hard Coral species were recorded at various points along the 100 meter transect line with some displaying indications of bleaching. The general consensus was that there was less coral observed at this location as compared to the previous survey dive of this location in 2011.

The second survey dive location took place a few hundred meters north. This area was of interest because it is an area with the heaviest impact of recreational use on the island. There were no hard coral species recorded on this dive, and significantly less fish and invertebrates recorded as well.

The next Reef Check Eco-Diver survey is scheduled for November 2012.

Sayulita Beach Clean-Up
On September 22nd please join Punta Sayulita and the Ocean Conservancy in celebrating the 27th Annual International Coastal Cleanup. Each year teams of volunteers go to beaches, lakes and rivers around the world to clean trash and debris. This is one of the biggest events of the world for clean waterways and a clean ocean. Historically, this beach clean-up event has been one of the most well attended events in Sayulita. Refreshments will be served to all volunteers and SUP relay races will be held immediately following the beach club with prizes awarded. Click here for the flyer.

Punta Sayulita SUP Team
With first place and top 3 podium finishes at several major SUP events this summer, Punta Sayulita team riders Ryan Helm and Fernando Stalla have been moving-up in the world rankings and have been training hard for the upcoming Rainbow Sandals/Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle (“BOP”) taking place on September 29 & 30 in Dana Point, CA. This event attracts some of the finest SUP racers in the world, many of which will be competing next March in Sayulita at the 4th Annual Punta Sayulita Classic. Punta Sayulita invites you to stop by our Punta Sayulita hospitality tent at the BOP to socialize and cheer on Ryan & Fernando.

With the Punta Sayulita Beach Club and several homes set for completion early next year, please do not hesitate to contact the Punta Sayulita sales office to get an update on our remaining Phase 1 offerings and take advantage of our ground breaking purchase incentives which will be available for a limited time only.
