At the opening event for the Stand Up World Tour event here in Itamambuca Beach, Ubatuba, Leco Salazar was presented with the Stand Up World Tour trophy that will return to Turtle Bay, on the North Shore of Oahu after the event.
The trophy was shaped by Tom Pohaku Stone, one of the driving forces behind perpetuating traditional Hawaiian Surfing and board building techniques. Made out of wood from the Ulu (breadfruit) tree, this is a one of a kind Alaia board and a prestigious Trophy fitting to this World Championship Tour, that wholeheartedly embraces both tradition and innovation.
There are now 3 years of Titles on the trophy, with Leco’s name being the newest for 2012, and Kai Lenny (Naish), occupying the other two spots for 2010 and 2011. Who will it be in 2013…..
