The Rise of the Next Generation of SUP:  Kauan Terra

The future of SUP Surfing is radiant. Although ALL of the performances at the APP Barbados Pro were mind blowing, the APP’s 1st Junior World Champion Event was completely off the hook.

We needed to know more about the four incredibly talented athletes who took the world famous Soup Bowl apart during their thirty minute junior final heat.  We start with the winner, the APP World Tour’s Junior World Champion:  Kauan Terra of Brazil.

Where are you from and where/when did you start paddle surfing?

I’m from Brazil, in Sao Paul from the beach at Yubambuca Ubatuba.

What do you do when you’re not SUP Surfing?

When I’m not SUP Surfing, I’m surfing a shortboard, training, developing my Jiu Jitsu practice, catching up on schoolwork and studying.

How long have you been competing and how long have you competed on the APP World Tour?

I started competing when I was 13.  The Barbados Pro was my first APP event!

What is your best result?

I had a lot of good results in Brazil, but being the APP Junior World Champion is my best result. I was a Brazilian champ at age 14 as a junior and have also been winning some adult categories.

Do you like traveling and what do you miss most about home?

I love to travel, but what I miss most are my parents and my daily routine.
