Big news! World Champion Mo Freitas just announced his commitment to Boardworks after having left longtime sponsor Focus Sup Hawaii at the end of last year.

Stand up paddle board brand giant Boardworks announces the scoop of capturing standout waterman and paddle athlete, Mo Freitas, for its Pro Team. Coming off an impressive 2017 season, the 20-year-old Hawaii native is gaining momentum.  Mo is a lethal combination of both fiery surfer and stand up paddle racer who has been to the top of the podium multiple times in his young career.  It is exciting news to hear his next competition season will be as part of the Boardworks family.

Boardworks, an industry leader, has a wide range of quality shortboards, stand up paddleboards, foils and foam boards which are an ideal match for Freitas’ versatile athleticism. He will primarily ride Rogue Sups the newest addition to Boardworks’ robust arsenal of brands.

After a dramatic win in Denmark at the 2017 ISA World Sup and Paddleboard Championship in the super challenging Technical Race course, Freitas celebrated his first title. There is no questions that Freitas is one of the most well-rounded surfers and paddlers in the watersports industry.  A true waterman, Freitas enjoys a long list of activities including outrigger canoeing, freediving and pushing his limits in waves of consequence.

A former surfer gone rogue, Evelyn stepped onto a SUP for the first time in 2009 when a plaguing neck injury kept her out of the water from surfing. Discovering the core benefits and expanded perspective on the water that stand up paddling brings, Ev immediately was hooked. She became a strong SUP racer in the North East and a year-round SUP surfer, gathering multiple top brand sponsorships including becoming a team rider for Starboard SUP and a national ambassador for Kialoa, as well as celebrating all aspects of the sport with additional brand ambassadorships including lululemon athletica, Clif Bar, Cobian, Kaenon & Indo Board. Her love of watersports and commitment to advocacy in preserving our marine environments led to a short film made with The Nature Conservancy as part of their Clean Water initiatives on Long Island, NY, called "A New Perspective". Evelyn just keeps paddling. Today, she's stepped up to take over the helm at Standup Journal after having worked for the magazine for 2 years as senior online editor.
