Dave Kalama’s Pro Tip On How To Increase Stroke Power

Dave Kalama of Imagine Surf gives us a pro tip

One of the most common mistakes people make while standup paddling involves slashing the paddle blade at the start of the paddle stroke. This creates a pocket of air behind the paddle which prevents the paddle from truly gripping the water and being effecient.

Basically this happens when you start to pull before your paddle is in the water robbing you of the full power of the stroke.

To fix this simply make sure your blade is in the water before you pull so you get maximum efficiency through the catch and power phase of the stroke.
