Glenn Dubock, Assoc. Publisher/Photo Editor – Santa Barbara, CAnHis voicemail message at Santa Barbara’s Cottage Hospital says Dubock is the media services coordinator, but that’s just his day job. He is one of the preeminent watersports photographers on the scene today. Growing up in the West Coast surf culture and getting in on the ground floor of the windsurf and kitesurfing boom days, Dubock’s impactful coverage began even before he extensively photographed the ’84 Olympic Games. Glenn’s images depict a deep knowledge of the sport. In 1985 he shot the first cover for California Boardsailor, our mag that would eventually become Wind Tracks. “Dub” is about to celebrate his 30th wedding anniversary with Kathy.

I live in San Diego, California where I surf, hike and train in between traveling around the world looking for adventure. I got into water sports as a professional kiteboarding and stand up paddle instructor, where I learned to kiteboard in 2005 and began stand up paddling in 2008.nnAfter a collegiate basketball career, I became an avid water sports enthusiast–dedicated to living and promoting an active lifestyle on the water. This passion led me to establish my Florida-based business, Water Monkey in order to promote this lifestyle. In six years of competition I have several championship titles and multiple wins across the United States and around the world. In addition to competition I enjoy writing and traveling to find new and challenging places to paddle, surf, kitesurf and explore.nnI am also the president and founder of the Stand Up Paddle Athletes Association (SUPAA). In January 2014 SUPAA was launched with the mission to help promote excellence in the sport of stand up paddling. In pursuing this mission, SUPAA seeks to establish organizational standards to improve the quality of events and instruction, promote rules to ensure fair competition and endeavor to establish a standard of excellence in all aspects of stand up paddling. Freelance writer, designer and water woman here. I write/blog about food, farming, aquaculture, design, sustainable building, architecture, surfing and stand up paddling. Love to bodysurf, bodyboard, stand up paddle surf, hula hoop and dance. I also love to cook. Why eat power bars, when you can have grilled sardines? My three beautiful babies are now fantastic adults. We also had a billy goat with us for almost two decades. (And lots of cats, dogs and chickens.) My former husband and I started the Hog Island Oyster Co. a growing concern, over three decades ago. Time marches on and life is good for all except for the goat, who died at age 18; pretty old for a goat. Thank you for reading.

Sponsored by Sunova SUP and Kialoa Paddles I grew up in Falmouth Maine, nestled in a house built in the 1740s, the same house in which my mother and her three brothers were raised. I spent the majority of my childhood on the ocean, fishing with my uncles or on adventures with my cousins at our family cottages on Cliff Island and Little Sebago Lake. I caught my first wave in 1995, while attending college at the University of Oregon, Eugene. I moved back to Maine in 2000, and started surfing more regularly with my high school friends. In 2010, I purchased my first stand up paddleboard online, mainly for flat water paddling to keep in shape when the waves were absent. I caught my first wave on a sup several months after and was immediately hooked. I currently live with my wife and daughter in Cape Elizabeth, ME and spend my free time exploring with my family, surfing with friends, and racing my paddle board throughout New England.

I always wanted to be a surfer but living in Colorado it was a little bit of a challenge. When I was 12 my Dad gave me a body board and told me to play in the river by his house. I saw kayaker surfing little river waves and it clicked. If they can surf in the river so can I! After standing on my first river wave, I started to pioneer the scene in Colorado. Soon after seeing sup, I naturally transitioned. Sup opened up a whole new world. I could surf smaller waves, paddle down river in search of new waves and I could also paddle for fitness. I helped start the racing scene on the front range in Colorado and soon became one of Colorado's fastest paddlers. People always ask when events I want to be known for. I would say spreading the stoke and Aloha of the sport is more important to me than any race or title. I want to be known for how much I love the sport and how much fun I have on a board, racing, surfing, down river or just paddling for fitness and doing yoga poses. I just love to have fun on the water!
