Body Glove’s Luke Hopkins keeping buddy Dane on his toes!

The river is home to all sorts of waves in almost every rapid. Some are easy to get to while other take added measures like doing board transfers or jumping from rocks onto waves. Either way the challenge of getting on some of the river waves is just as fun as surfing them. This river is the Gauley River in West Virginia and the rapid is called Pillow Rock. The crux move in the rapid is between me and Dane Jackson.

I was ready to make the jump and drop in and when Dane came down the rapid I made sure to wait my turn before making the drop. Unknowingly to me Cherly Killman took this photo of the moment. Just like the ocean, the river is a place of endless challenges and possibilities on a paddleboard. Special thanks to Body Glove for making paddleboarding gear for the ocean and for the river.” -Luke Hopkins
