The Butterfly Effect Maui 2015 landed on the perfect day here on the north shore of Maui. In April you never know what to expect for conditions. We can receive the last of the winter swells and big rain clouds, or it can look like a summer day with no waves and sunny skies. You just never know in April.
For The 9th Annual Butterfly Effect, we lucked out with an amazingly beautiful day that was just right for all ages and levels of paddlers. Everyone was able to have fun and paddle together for the 3 mile downwind course from Baldwin Beach to Kanaha Beach.
As women arrived to check in at Baldwin they were greeted with leis and a Paddle Into Fitness warm up by Gillian Gibree. Kumu Dennis Imamura chanted a traditional Hawaiian protection blessing and “pule” over the event before we all headed out for the coast run.
Over 300 women arrived on paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks to Kanaha were the Aloha Beach Festival took place. Every participated received an awesome goodie-bag filled with surprises from sponsors and the BE beach sarong, along with food, drinks, and entry into the BE evening ceremony at Paia Bay Coffee Co. It was an event to experience with memories to last a life time. We are excited to continue on this path of spreading aloha world wide through our upcoming non-competitive aloha events this summer.
