Steve Scherrer

BIO

I started my paddling career with a BSA (Boy Scout of America) canoe merit badge in 1966, yeah more than 50 years ago. Got involved in whitewater kayaking in the 80's and started a retail store, Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe in 1986. Paddled everything I could but specialized in whitewater kayak and then sea kayaks. Involvement in the ACA (American Canoe Association) taught me how to teach paddling correctly and I've never looked back. I designed some sea kayaks in the early 2000s for Confluence Watersports then sold Alder Creek and went to work full time for them. When SUP came along and CWS took forever to jump on the train, we quit and started Shellback Paddle Experience. We now travel the states by van and travel trailer with our dog Piper, sharing the stoke of SUP. We teach at all flatwater levels, consumers, dealer staff and instructors. We LOVE to get out and paddle for multi-day, self-contained trips whenever possible!
